How you get paid

    Last updated 2026-06-24

When a renter pays for a booking, the charge runs directly on your connected Stripe account. You are the merchant of record on the renter's card statement, and the full amount is yours. Patriot Hauls takes 0% — no booking fees and no commission.

    What's in a booking charge

A typical booking collects one card payment made up of:

    • Rental (your nightly/tiered or hourly rate)
    • Add-ons the renter selected, if any
    • Sales tax (if you set a rate) — on the rental and add-ons only
    • Processing fee (only if you turned one on)
    • Security deposit (refundable)

The whole amount goes to your Stripe account. Stripe then pays it out to your bank on your normal Stripe payout schedule.

Good to know: Because each operator connects their own Stripe, "no booking fees" is literally true — Patriot Hauls never sits between you and your money.

When the money is actually charged

Every booking starts as an authorization (a hold on the renter's card), then is captured (actually charged) when the booking is confirmed:

    • Auto-approve on: once the renter passes document checks, the card is captured right away and the booking is confirmed.
    • Review-each on: the card stays authorized (held, not charged) until you approve the booking. Approving captures it; declining releases the hold with no charge.

See approve or review bookings for the full approval flow.

    The deposit

The security deposit is collected as part of that same charge. After the rental comes back in good shape, you return the deposit to the renter as a refund from the Transactions page. Full details are in deposits and holds.

    Where to see your money

Dashboard → Payments → Transactions shows every invoice and payment, including gross revenue, sales tax collected, deposits held, deposits returned, and refunds. For the money to settle into your bank, your Stripe account must show Payouts: Enabled — finish Stripe setup if it's still pending (see connect Stripe for payouts).
