Pickup and return hours

    Last updated 2026-07-05

The pickup and return times a renter can choose aren't a fixed platform window — they come from your setup. Two things decide them: your pickup style and your hours of operation. This article explains exactly how a renter's available times are worked out so there are no surprises at checkout.

    Contactless vs in-person

Your pickup style lives in Workflow Settings → Pickup Style:

    • Contactless — the renter uses a lockbox and access codes go out automatically. Because there's no one to meet, renters can pick any time of day, any day (24/7). Your hours of operation don't restrict contactless handoffs.
    • In-Person — you meet the renter. So the times a renter can pick are limited to your hours of operation for that weekday (see below).

Your hours become the renter's time slots (in-person)

Set your hours per day in Business Info → Logistics & Hours → Hours of Operation (you'll also see this during onboarding). For an in-person operator:

    • A day's open–close window is exactly the set of pickup and return times a renter can choose that day. If Monday is 8:00 AM–8:00 PM, the renter sees 8:00 AM through 8:00 PM on a Monday.
    • A day marked Closed (the Closed toggle) has no handoff window — a renter can't pick up or return on that day. Rentals can still span across a closed day; the renter just can't hand the unit off on it.
    • The return time is checked against the return day's hours, and the pickup time against the pickup day's hours — so a multi-day rental honors both days' windows.
    • If you've saved no hours at all, nothing is imposed and renters can pick any time (24/7).

Good to know: This is the same for the website and the app, and it's enforced on our servers — a booking with a pickup or return time outside your hours is turned away even if someone tries a direct link. Renters only ever see valid times.

Marking a day closed the right way

Use the Closed toggle for a day you're off. Don't try to signal "closed" by setting the same opening and closing time (like 8:00 AM to 8:00 AM):

    • A day whose open and close times are identical now reads as closed everywhere.
    • The editor won't let you save a day whose closing time isn't after its opening time — you'll get a prompt to fix it or use the Closed toggle. This keeps the times a renter sees honest.

    Same-day pickups

For a booking that starts today, times that have already passed (within about 30 minutes of now) drop off the list, so a renter can't pick a handoff time in the past.

    Where to change all this

    • Hours of operation: Business Info → Logistics & Hours.
    • Pickup style (contactless / in-person): Workflow Settings.
