Rental contracts overview

    Last updated 2026-06-24

Every rental on Patriot Hauls is backed by a signed agreement. You don't have to write one — the platform comes with professionally drafted legal templates that auto-fill with each booking's details and are e-signed by the renter before pickup.

    The built-in templates

Under Dashboard → Contracts → Templates, you'll find a library of Platform Templates you can use as-is or copy and customize:

    • Commercial Trailer Rental Agreement — the default, used for trailer rentals.
    • Equipment Rental Agreement — for equipment and machinery.
    • Roll-Off Dumpster Rental Agreement — for dumpster rentals, including tonnage and overage terms.
    • Optional Damage Waiver Addendum — an add-on that lets a renter accept or decline a damage waiver. See the damage waiver add-on.

    How a contract gets chosen

For each booking, Patriot Hauls picks the agreement in this order:

    1. A contract assigned to that specific unit, if you set one.
    2. Your own default template, if you've made one.
    3. The platform default (the Commercial Trailer Rental Agreement).

    How they fill in automatically

These agreements auto-fill with each renter's name, the dates, the unit, your business name, and your fees — pulled straight from the booking and your settings. Renters always see real values, never a blank or a code. See contract variables for the full list of what fills in.

Good to know: You usually don't need to change anything here. Set your fees and jurisdiction once in Contract Settings and every agreement uses them — see customize your contract.

    Where signed contracts live

Once a renter signs, the agreement appears under the Signed Contracts tab on the Contracts page, showing the renter, unit, dates, when they signed, and their signature. Open any one to view the full signed booking.
