Processing fees and net payouts

The Processing Fees figure on your Accounting page is one people ask about, so here's the plain truth: those are your payment processor's fees, not ours. Patriot Hauls takes no commission and no booking fees — you connect your own Stripe (or Square) account and the money goes straight to you.

    Where the fees come from

    • When a renter pays by card, Stripe (or Square) charges a standard processing fee on that transaction — the same fee any business pays to accept cards.
    • That fee is shown as Processing Fees on your Accounting page and itemized per payment in your transactions.
    • Patriot Hauls never adds a cut on top. Our subscription is completely separate from what renters pay you.

    How your net is figured

Your Net Revenue and the P&L snapshot on the Accounting page work like this:

    1. Start with Gross Revenue (your base rental income).
    2. Subtract sales tax — that's the state's money, not yours.
    3. Subtract processing fees — the card fees above.
    4. Subtract maintenance costs you've logged.
    5. What's left is your estimated net income.

Good to know: Deposits are left out of net income on purpose. A deposit is money you're holding for the renter, not something you earned — so it's tracked separately. See A tour of Accounting Now.
